Andrew Brooks is a photographer, digital artist and film maker from
Manchester. Many of his pieces involve
taking several, even hundreds of photos of a place over a period of time, from
different angles and merging them together and digitally manipulating them
until he’s satisfied. For example he showed us this busy airport scene, the
single image was the result of 45 minutes worth of movement, the photo captures
his experience of the place and how it changed over the period of time he was
there.
He said it is always his aim to convey the atmosphere and feeling of a
place in his photos, like the warmth of the sun or the coldness of a cityscape
and to give the viewer a real sense of what it’s like to be there. In 2008
Andrew had an exhibition at the Urbis called “Hidden Manchester”, It’s an amazing series of photographs showing
the hidden face of the city and it’s a unique opportunity to see places in
Manchester that are normally hidden from public view.
