Random

A few images, that I came across when looking through random blogs. Didnt have any names or anything but I found the visuals very interesting. Especially for my project.

Gego.

Gego, reticularea, 1969.

Marcel Duchamp

Sixteen miles of string.
I'm a big fan of using lines and string in most of my projects, its become a accidental habit. I just love how string and lines can represent so many different concepts. Thats why I also enjoy coming across artists that have that similar passion. I love this piece, so chaotic but rather controlled at the same time.

Lights, Camera, Cling film

Tonight  in Hotspur  Tamara and  I went  and installed lights into the cling film sculpture when  the lights  of Manchester had gone down, i thought that installing the lights when its actually dark would  show up the ink the most, and it really draws attention to the piece.  We used different filters and lights on both the poles,  the first 30mins we spent figuring out what settings to have the camera. Whilst Tamamra was photographing the lights  inside the piece and focusing mainly the effect that the lights had on the room, i was more interested in  showing up the colours, i used different lights, and different filters to create different effects on the cling film.  What worked really well was the lights being down the side of the poles, and for my exhibition i want to put lights down the sides of the poles, not a sharp light as it shines through to harshly. I am really happy with this outcome and the photos that came from it. Obviously these aren't all the photos however  i have chosen the ones that have shown off colour, patterns and the atmosphere in the room.

Magdalena Abakanowicz

I love this abstract style of drawing using lots of line, etching especially. Thats why I'm sharing you this artist. Abkanowicz has moved to figurative work. She uses the minimum amount of detail necessary to create associations for the viewer, but keeps the works open for individual interpretation. Her pieces refer to patterns and complexity in nature as well as nature's ability to destroy and reinvent. Having made separate series of works focusing on torsos, backs, brains, and faces, much of her art focuses on isolated parts of the human body.

Debbie Smyth

Debbie Smyth's threadwork transforms the white walls of galleries into captivating city scenes. Her embroidered streetscapes are the combinations of endless photographing and sketching. I love the build up of lines in this piece.
