The Hakone Open-Air Museum Playground, Japan

The Hakone Pavilion Japan, an enormous colourful climbing net designed and made by artist Toshiko Horiuchi Macadam, it is all hand made using crochet with lengths of recycled nylon.  There are different levels where kids can play and swinging balls for kids to climb on hanging from the net.  You enter the playground by crawling through holes in the massive structure.
The playground is sheltered by a huge construction made from 589 timber logs without using any metal fixtures using old temple building techniques.  In my project I was trying to link playgrounds with textiles so I was really excited to come across this beautiful playground!
